Subject[LCtalk] Plotting cues

I finally settled down to get to grips with my LanBox and iMac yesterday. Rigging was pretty straightforward and the lanterns go on and off with the wheel. I can't begin to describe how great it is to click on a lantern on the screen and then just turn it on!

But please can someone explain how to plot, save and run the following very straightforward set of cues. The instructions get involved in layers and active or inactive channels which just leaves me bewildered at the moment. (I have considerable experience with image editing and page layout software such as Photoshop or InDesign so the concept of layers per se is not a problem. I can see that it will be very useful in stage lighting.)

Cue 1: channels 1-10 @ 50%

Press the Go button (where is the Go button?) and we get a 2 second cross fade to

Cue 2: Black out with

Press the Go button and we get a 2 second cross fade to

Cue 3: channels 11-20 @75%

Press the Go button and we get a 5 second cross fade to

Cue 4: channels 1-5 @ 35%

I have to say that this has to be one of the most basic lighting plots imaginable. That being the case plotting it ought to be pretty straightforward and intuitive. So far I have to conclude that it is anything but that. I also have to say that the instructions are about as opaque as they could be. If I can't get this sorted out I'll have to fall back on our Strand 520i and, if I have to do that I will be most disappointed.

If there's anyone near Birmingham using the LC Edit who I could visit for an afternoon that might well be the way forward.

Thanks in advance
