I don't think you need more than one Lanbox to do this. The Lanbox is capable 
of controlling many more DMX channels then you will need in this project. I 
also noted that you planned to construct a custom relay/switch box. For any 
outputs that require relay control, why not simply use a DMX relay output pack?

I have designed a variety of electronic interactive devices for museum 
displays. A variety of ways to attack your problem come to mind.  However, the 
main issue to my mind is the interface/output circuitry that will be designed 
to interpret the electromagnetic signals. One will need to convert these 
signals into a digital form. If you would like to discuss this one on one, drop
