Is there any possibility that LCEdit might eventually gain MIDI control options? I don't mean the Lanbox of course, I mean the LCEdit software. I just finished viewing all the demos of Lassi http://www.lassi.be/demos.html and I really want to buy a Behringer BCF2000 or BCR2000 (probably the BCR, motorized faders are neat, but I think I'd rather pay less money and get more knobs.) However, I just like the LCEdit interface better than Lassi. I think Lassi is a really nice piece of work, but not as powerful and flexible as LCEdit. Here are some thoughts on how MIDI could function in LCEdit: 1) Assign a range of CC #s to the control panel window for use on "selected" fixtures. These CC #s would allow knobs or faders to control whatever fixtures have been selected in the stage view. For example, using the bottom three rows on the BCR2000 I could control up to 24 dimmers, or I could control up to 24 attributes of a very complex intelligent fixture. 2) Allow the user to assign a range of CC #s to SPECIFIC fixtures. This would allow adjustments to a fixture WITHOUT selecting it on the stage window. This would be a global setting, for example a certain knob could control house lights. I assume this option affect the currently selected layer but if it were configurable to allow it to affect the mixer directly that would be nice for "panic lights" so that the operator could bring up lights with a knob regardless of what else is going on. 3) Extend the Keystroke editor to include MIDI so that MIDI buttons can be used to select fixtures or groups of fixtures or run cues. 4) Allow the mapping of CC #s to all of the scrollable commands in the Advanced section of the layer properties as well as the drop down lists (e.g. turn a knob to set the chaser mode) 5) Allow MIDI buttons or knobs to control the "Follow Layer" drop down list in the corner of the cuelist editor.
