so from what I understood (??) it must be the quastion of the TCP/IP address to set for the "airport" (seems it can NOT be 192.168.xxx.xxx ???)

You must set the airport to 192.168.1.1, with mask 255.255.255.0, and set the DHCP range to e.g. 129.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.254. The airport address is now the gateway address for other devices, all with mask 255.255.255.0.

I assume the airport is your connection to the internet, and there are no other routers or DHCP servers on the network. In above setup your computers will get in auto mode an address in the numbers 100 and higher. addresses 2-99 can be used for fixed devices like a LanBox.
