You can't fade to nothing, only to another value. Why not just cross
fade in -one- layer from red to blue; easy and simple?
step one: hold for ever, crossfade for 5.1sec; red=100%, blue = 0%
step two: hold for ever, crossfade for 5.1sec; red=0%, blue= 100%.
