I don't always know what color will be in the background. This effect 
actually works well when working under LCedit. When the bottom layer 
(blue) is set to Transparency with a depth of 92% and the top layer 
fades to nothing the blue from the bottom layer fades in as if it were 
cross faded in one layer. This is very flexible in my application.

The problem shows up when controlling thru MIDI. Instead of the red 
fading out to blue (the lower layer) it just shuts off letting the blue 
just snap on immediately.
