Patrick, The Lanbox will do everything you have described and about 100 times more!! Interesting you mention a Strand 520; I have removed the Strand 530 from my local theatre for a number of shows and chosen instead to run everything on my Lanbox. Most of my shows involve 72 regular dimming channels, scrollers, smoke machines, hazers and a multitude of moving head fixtures. In addition to this, our production of Chess involved 64 Chromadeck panels, which covered most of the stage area, making it into a chess board; the Chromadecks had over 400 cues alone! Not only can the Lanbox do simple cross fades from one state into another but by using different layers, you can run multiple cues completely independently with different start, stop and run times. The Lanbox works equally well from either a Mac or PC and you can use either a USB or ethernet connection. If you are used to the Strand architecture/protocol, then you will need a little time to become familiar with the Lanbox but, believe me, it is worth it. Another benefit for me is that I can plot the entire show before going into the theatre by using a second computer running Capture (visualisation application). This saves an enormous amount of precious theatre time and takes all the pressure away. No longer do I have to sit in the theatre at all day plotting sessions!! If you would like to discuss the Lanbox further, then just contact me. I am located in Surrey if you want to meet up; I could show you exactly how to plot and run cues, etc. Best, John
