Hi Everybody who joined this conversation,

It is obvious that a lot of people are not satisfied with the Lanbox, especially its software and manual. I myself would not have bought it would I have known of its problems.
There are quite some people who try to get it working in another way, Rainer pointed me to Marc Vergouwen's 'Lassi', Blair is working on it with Ambleton Live, Matthias Glastra is working on it in yet another way.
That in itself is proof that the software does not work for some people. Why is CDS so stubborn not to want to understand the needs of some of their customers?

Having bought the Lanbox 2 years ago and not having used it, this conversation stirred up a search for other software that works on the Lanbox and preferably on my Macintosh.
I think I found it. It's called Helios, it is freeware and you can dowload a beta at http://www.jgelectronics.nl
It is not ready yet, the makers say it's about 80% finished. But it is well worth it to have a look at it (most of it is in Dutch, they say they will translate the manual in English when their product is ready).
This is the software I have been looking for for a long time. It is intuitive. Without a manual I could make a cuelist and run it within minutes. I like the layout, which is simple but looking good. It has a nice feature to have sound cues between the lightcues that start iTunes music tracs. And you can even use the little remote that comes with the later Mac's to run the cues, leaning back in your chair, feet on the table...

So I finally dusted off the old Lanbox and I'm starting to use it!

Thank you all for pointing me to various directions, and a good 2008 to all of you,

Rob van der Knaap
