Hi John,
I'm glad the LB works for you and I'm sure if I sat at it for a week I
could get it running more or less. But the thing is, I don't need layers
and groups, visualisation and all the other possibilities there seem to
be.
As I stated, I just want to run a simple show with a few lights and a
few moving heads. To achieve that I don't want to have to fiddle with
too many things. It's a bit like MS Word, it has endless possibilities
to make complicated books or text with lots of layouts. But most people
use it for just writing a letter, no layout, just one font, etc. But at
least it is easy to write just that one letter. Word has a good manual,
while the lanbox lacks a proper manual. And I know there has been an
attempt to write a better Wiki one. Sorry, it's just not clear enough
for me, and I understand they abandoned the project. Rainer Picha
pointed me to Lassi, witch works with the lanbox as well. Too bad it
doesn't do an moving light fixtures, but it is what I expect in a
program: simplicity an (for lassi) a very good manual.
I had this conversation about a year ago and just because people told me
it worked for them I started again, with the same result: I find the
software too complicated, the manual lousy.
Best wishes for 2008,
Rob
