Where (in the UK) are you based?
There are several of us LanBox users here in the UK and you could prob. 
arrange to meet up with one of us and 'try before you buy'.
I'm in Hampshire if that helps.

I have done shows in the manner you describe using the LanBox including 
driving moving heads, etc.
