As a last attempt I reset my lanbox by opening it up and pressing the reset button for 10 seconds on power up. The display said "ABRT" then flashed, then said and stopped at "BOOT". Is this normal for reset?

That procedure *completely* erases the lanbox, including its firmware, which you will need to upload again (v2.09 is the current version).

You should be able to connect using LCedit+ (though only firmware upload will work), but note that:

An LCX in this state only accepts connections via USB, not via network.

An LCE will be reset to IP address 192.168.1.77.

Hope this helps,
