Nor does it allow control of groups of DMX channels with one midi channel as does the AVAB or Behringer solution. OK, I know that our implementation is not optimized for direct control of light channels from audio/midi equipment, but... The LanBox is like a complete desk, and is designed to run lighting stand-alone. The box can be controlled, and cues be synced by MIDI controller messages. So, we have a different approach, we say create all lighting in the box, and sync them with audio via e.g. MIDI controller and/or Program changes, just as you do with separate MIDI instruments. This also means that near all controllers are already assigned to control the many features of the box, and leaves maybe a few controllers which we could use for another (very inefficient) way of direct control. Surely this has everything to do with direct midi to DMX translation? No, it's just another way of mapping MIDI messages to direct DMX channel control. I am not sure whether it is feasible to add another MIDI way of direct control, as the trend is using Ethernet and VJ/DJ software to (partly) direct control of e.g. LED arrays and strips at very high speed.
