Hi Fokko,

Thanks for the confirmation of flip cable.

As for the other issue. I am aware of the Note On / Velocity to DMX
channel / value mapping. In our case, for any given fade we need to be
able to see (i.e. graphically represent in the audio editing software)
the start point, end point and all values in between in relation to the
timeline of our audio material. As far as this issue is concerned, most
audio software represents Controller automation in a much more useful
and intuitive fashion than Note On + Velocity. With Controller values,
control points can be set at Time A and Time B and you can see the
actual curve of the fade in between. This is not the case with Note Ons.
Although useful, your implementation with Note Ons does not allow for
clear, graphical representation of fade curves in the audio editing
software. Nor does it allow control of groups of DMX channels with one
midi channel as does the AVAB or Behringer solution. In their
implementation, every sub-master fader (each one potentially containing
groups, presets, chases and even cue lists) has been assigned an
arbitrary midi controller number. Any movement of a sub-master produces
corresponding midi information which can be recorded, edited and played
back by any audio editing software. This is a highly advantageous
strategy as it allows whatever elegant, complex and sophisticated (but
eminently proprietary) patching, DMX control and cue list control etc
provided by the lighting desk, to be automated by and synced to the
audio realm in a simple and straightforward fashion. It allows, for
example, an entire lighting show, including DMX patch, dimmer curves and
cue lists to be set up in the desk (where it belongs!) and then
recorded, edited and played back from audio software. What I am asking
is that you map midi Controller numbers to LanBox channels, preferably
in a way that is user editable, and absolutely not in a way the requires
controlling LCedit+ via midi. Surely this has everything to do with
direct midi to DMX translation?

Regards,

Thomas McIntosh
