I'm not a programmer but a friend of mine built a webpage in PHP that allows you to select from one of the two LCXs in our facility and then one of our pre-defined quelists. The page is located on our intranet and is password protected. Once you open the page you're forced to enter a password, select which lanbox you're connecting to and which cuelist you want to run. After that the main page loads. The main page has about 10 buttons or so, arranged in a vertical line, which are labeled by what light settings they call up (emcee, teaching, band, video, etc.). What's exciting is that we operate this through a 17inch touch screen monitor. I have about 50 volunteers so the combination of labeled buttons and touch screen control makes for a really simple user interface. Before this application I was receiving two ongoing lines of complaints: 1. Volunteers had difficulty seeing the cuelist numbers next to the "go" button in the control panel window. 2. Volunteers couldn't remember the order of our cues. This page solves both problems. From a user standpoint it is great when it works. The programming needs a bit of work to make it more stable. Sometimes it takes a few button hits to effect the transition. If nothing else what we have is "proof of concept." Jeremy M.
