I don't know if this is helpful at all but worth a shot, I guess.

Have you set up the layer receiving the midi commands to receive on the 
same midi channel your midi controller is set to? (This can be done by 
typing the midi channel number your contoller is sending on, into the 
MSC box on the control panel in LCedit+ ...from what I remember.) 

I had trouble with this one initially too but it was well worth the time 
taken to set this up. I had a lightshow at the end of it running in a 
single layer, and it worked every time without fail. A set of complete 
looks, and fades was set up in a cuelist for each song for a gigging 
musician I know. 

It was relly handy for him not to have to carry a lighting desk or a 
computer around to every gig, or to pay a lampy to run a show for him in 
every small back bar he played...
