Yes, I agree that graphical interface is a lot nicer to work with than many of the consoles use. It is the future of lighting control. And as I have to do shows abroad sometimes, it's easier to bring my laptop and a DMX converter than a console. And it looks like we are going the right direction. Look at Jands Vista. Try their demo software and you get it running after half an hour.

Having said all this, I think there are some good things about the software too. The way to control the moving light fixtures and the possibility to change the controls to your personal preference is a good one.

The graphical way to put the fixtures in a field, with a drawing of the stage under it, perfect. But there it stops for me.

You say I need to stop thinking about how other consoles work, but I don't and I agree. Same thing with going from a Compulite to a Strand or a Hog. They have different approaches.

When I find the time I shall take your advice, I'll get my LCE off the shelf and try to get it working again
