I'm also in the middle of programming some LEDs and I came across this program called LightController. It looks perfect for your LED panels. The only thing is I have not been able to get it going. It is probably because it is looking for a USB to serial connection to the lanbox.

It is open source so maybe someone out there can update it.

This program is outdated, and -very- limited. Near all functionality is anyway built-in LCedit+; Set Color view of a fixture to on, and you can see the resulting color of RGB on the stage. You can place as many RGB pixels as you want, and in a shape as the real fixture. Besides setting RGB values, you can paste any picture (or color example) into the RGB control and make a preset of it. Even our pattern generator supports RGB mixing pixels, so you can create whatever you want.

So the only missing feature is audio to RGB, but that can easily be built from our video2DMX MAX/MSP/Jitter example.
