I would advice using an UPS, use Ethernet (TCP/IP) instead of USB (USB is NOT galvanic isolated). I am not sure what you mean with "lost audio/midi sync on Logic", but if a MIDI connection is lost temporary, you get problems with MIDI "running status". If you always send first a bank select (controller 0), and then a program change, it can never get out of sync with the running status system of MIDI.
