Unfortunately my budget is tiny. I'm wondering whether there would be any benefit at all to buying something like a Behringer BCR2000 or BCF2000

Behringer faderboxes do not support note-ons and velocity via fader, so it won't work with a lanbox.

of Evolution UC33e. These devices are in the $100-300 range but I don't want to throw money away on something that won't be useful.

It's not useful as you can not control LCedit+. However if you have a LanBox-LCX you can use an old (simple) DMX desk, by connecting it to DMX input.

If your budget stretches to it, this might be a cool gadget to look at:

Looks very promising, a "dmx test" device that'll do simple lightingjobs too, and a nice wing addition with groupfaders to a LCX.
Maybe it'll also work for programming cues in an LCX?
