Hi,
I've just bought the lanbox LCX and am very pleased with it except for one thing. Before buying, I went through the manual and found this: "Another powerful way to control lights is using a programmable MIDI command station with sliders and/or buttons, like the Peavey PC1600 X"
Now, what I understood about that is that you could use a control surface just like faders on a lighting board. I have a berhinger BCF 2000 which is similar (unless i'm missing something)

There is besides the price a big difference: The PC1600X is free programmable and very flexible, the BCF2000 is limited in programming.

I now realise that the only way to fade individual lights in or out is through Note-Ons and i cannot map note-ons to my BCF2000's faders. I know that a lot of the ccs have been mapped to parameters in the lanbox but would there be a way (other than software translation (midi cc to midi note)) to control individual lights with cc instead of note-on?

You can directly control light channels only via NoteOns or SysEx messages. Controllers have only one variable, while NoteOns have pitch -and- velocity so can be used to control up to 2047 channels, using all MIDI channels. You can still use the BCF2000 to control cues, chases, etc stored in the LanBox.
