Subject[LCtalk] Midi Continuous Controler

Hi,

I've just bought the lanbox LCX and am very pleased with it except for one thing. Before buying, I went through the manual and found this: "Another powerful way to control lights is using a programmable MIDI command station with sliders and/or buttons, like the Peavey PC1600 X"
Now, what I understood about that is that you could use a control surface just like faders on a lighting board. I have a berhinger BCF 2000 which is similar (unless i'm missing something) and was hoping to use that, stand alone with the box for small shows with few lights (we mostly do bigger ones but we do a lot of improv stuff that needs quick adjustments).

I now realise that the only way to fade individual lights in or out is through Note-Ons and i cannot map note-ons to my BCF2000's faders. I know that a lot of the ccs have been mapped to parameters in the lanbox but would there be a way (other than software translation (midi cc to midi note)) to control individual lights with cc instead of note-on? I really thought there would be a way to edit the lanbox's midi mapping. I realise that most of the mapped CCs are actualy used as switches. wouldn't it be easier to have light channels on ccs and parameters on notes?

It's no biggy, just a small stepback from what i had imagine. Then again, maybe i'm just missing something...

thnx
Marc
