Aha. I see the general idea.  So unless I send a whole buffer at a 
time, even if ony one slider is changing, I am in trouble, yes?

I will try doing this all while keeping my java objects in (laziness) 
& let you know if it still conflicts.

I thought by putting a 100ms resolution on the line object, it would 
be more or less the same as using a speedlim....

The mxj net objects are already in the install.  If you create an 
object [mxj net.udp.send] and option-click it, you will get access to 
the help patches, source code, etc.  they all live in 
/Library/Application Support/Cycling '74/java.
