what about 2 different modes:
1. 512 ch. x 20 f/s
2. 256 ch. x 40 f/s
is that easily doable with the help of firmware change? in this way you
could stack up 2 lanboxes to get 512 ch. x 40 frame/s. The down point -
have to run 2 separte physical lines then.
also while on the subject - is 20f/s the maximum refresh rate or constant?
I mostly work with high class equipment that doesnt have problems with dmx
rerfresh rates of 44 f/s and more. As long as its up to the DMX-512 spec.
For instance if you only had to use 24 ch. then you would be able to strip
down the rest of the channels and achieve a dmx packet of 1.196ms lenght
giving you a refresh rate of 836 frames a sec which by the standard is
perfectly valid and a fully complying dmx receiver should be able to
receive and process it, which is not the case with the most of the gear
unfortunately.
