SubjectRe: [LCtalk] serial object & lanbox control using keyspan adapter

when i load the serial object's help patch in max and send the message print to the serial object, the max window shows;
port a: modem
port b: IrDA-IrCOMMch-b
port c: USA19191P1.1
status: port modem IrDA-IrCOMMch-b USA19191P1.1

OK, that's good, you need to use port c

that's what i did

i set the serial object to [serial c 2400]

Oeps, should be 38400

and send the message [65 84 13]

Uh I don't think this is a valid command, please look at our serial/USB example

the command is AT<return> - which is a valid modem command
but in any case, i tried using the supplied lc+ example patch, which doesn't work
the specs above are the ones found in the max serial help file

using the "LC+ Ser-USB Example.pat" in "LC+ xMAX4 examples" in the "developer" folder inside the lcedit+ distribution, i cannot get the icue to react to the lanbox.
the lanbox led flashes, suggesting there is data arriving at the lanbox, but i never receive a reply from the lanbox in the lower left part of the patch. also, the icue is not reacting at all.
using midi out everything works fine, but i do want to switch to serial for the pc...

my problem is that i'm developing on my mac, but the final patch
will have to run on a pc where the lanbox will be connected to com1

The serial object for wMAX is slightly different, so check our latest examples, as they work :-)

well, i can't get the mac version working so far, but i'll definitely give the pc version a try tomorrow when i'm back at the theater

any other suggestions for trouble shooting?
thanks for your patience and help in all this

rene
