hi, i'm just embarking on my first dmx project in which i have to make my max/msp patch 'talk' to a rosco i-cue mirror using a lanbox for dmx control. there are a few questions i have about setting it up, sorry if these are really basic.

i'll be developing my max patch on a mac, but during the performance it will have to run on a pc. we're using an lcm lanbox.

since i'm using max to connect to the lcm, my question is; from within max is there a difference in accessing the lanbox using the com1 port versus a midi port on an available soundblaster card?
