many professional desks are then also not DMX compliant!
Actually this is not correct; According to the standard, a controller (desk) can freely choose the speed of DMX within the USITT 1990 specifications, but..

So, having an option for the LanBox DMX controller to behave the same as many "professional" desks would not be a compromise at all then, since the controller "can freely choose the speed of DMX".

That withstanding, obviously there are many non-compliant fixtures out there though which is an issue that none of us can correct, other than complaining to the manufacturers.
