As readers of this list may have noticed, I suffered since long with problems with my serial connection from my computer to the lanbox LCM. After many hours of trying all sorts of sollutions, and the much appreciated help from the lanbox-makers I came to the conclusion that I have a very crappy motherboard. It's an ASUS A7V8X-X. I never had any problems with ASUS, up to now. There must be something wrong with the board, or with the drivers. I had time-outs on my serial connection all the time. The board has onboard LAN, and when downloading trough that LAN-interface, the time-outs were more frequent!

I ended up bying a USB->RS-232 interface, and that solved my problem (does that mean that at least USB is working on my board?).

Just wanted to let you know, think twice if you by a motherboard...
