Cheer up, most RS232 ports on PCs are working correctly.

If that is true, then why am I having troubles with my lanbox LCM on three totaly different systems (different hardware, different age and different OS)? I can't help it, but I am starting to suspect more fundamental problems with my lanbox...

Good question, maybe you can try with another cable/connector.
In general if your problems disappear with a low (9600) baudrate, it has to do with your PC (hardware and/or software). If the errors are more or less independent of baudrate it's almost always cable/connector problems.

The chance that something is wrong with the box is very low, and is limited to the RJ45 connector and the RS232 interface circuit. Anyway a low baudrate would not help in such event.

I hope this helps,
