Hi all,

I am attempting to run a multimedia show using an LCM. What I would like to do is use the box to trigger midi via cues in chases, and use this to drive a midi sampler for the audio, and a digital mixer to recall snapshots and control the audio routing and fx. I am having some problems with my lack of midi understanding, and would appreciate some help, but I believe the lanbox is capable of this function.

Sure, you can use the "write to midi" action in any step(s) you want. There is an example in the tutorial at chapter 5 "Automated shows".

Firstly, is it possible to program the LCM using windows and midi, whilst sending midi commands to other systems simultaneously? If so how do I configure the lanbox to do this?

No, that is only possible with the LanBox-LCX.

Secondly, I have studied forums and the manual and I am aware of the method of outputting the hex string to midi using the lighting software. My sampler can be set to receive on any midi channel (currently 2), and each sample plays according to a midi note and velocity that you preset. My behringer digital mixer again can respond to any midi channel I set (currently 3), and uses the program change command to change between the snapshots 1-127. If anyone has a basic idea how to send the appropriate midi messages and what hex strings to start with, then I am sure I can figure out how to update the commands for different samples and snapshots.

A good overview of the MIDI protocol is at:

It should be helpful for constructing the hexadecimal strings that correspond to specific MIDI messages.
