Hey Flo, I'm sort of a newbie myself, and I don't know much about the MPC4000, but can you trigger sequences from notes? That's one approach that I'm looking at using in Logic. also, when you talk about activating a track, are you muting or unmuting it? could that fire the program change or perhaps the continuous controller messages at that point? Also, many MIDI controllers these days will let you send program and CC messages with the push of a button these days -- is this an option for you? I actually prefer the continuous controller messages over the program change messages at this point, because you can choose exactly what cue step you want to go to. The important thing as Fokko pointed out to me is that the CC 21,53,&86 for that engine come in order and that they are not firing at the same time as other CC messages for other engines. So make sure they are staggered -- like clicks 1,2,3 for engine A; 4,5,6 for engine B, and so on. Finally, I haven't tried this out yet, but I believe it was suggested in this list that a person could trigger a cuelist via a MIDI note by using the "Go to step x if channel y is between a and b values". If so, perhaps someone in the know in this group could verify that you could have a continuously looping cuelist which checks to see if a certain note (a DMX channel) has been played (the velocity will give the channel a value), and will go to a certain cue step if that is the case. Thought I'd jump in 'cause it sounds like you're in the same boat as me -- hopefully I'm not rocking it too much by doing so! ;-) take care, van.
