Having done the whole exercise once, it is quite straightforward but I think a little more detail in the tutorial/manual would be helpful. In particular, I would suggest that when discussing the creation of the second interface, explicit instructions - i.e. select the interfaces window and then select new interface from the edit menu.

I will add it to the tutorial.

One other minor point is that the tutorial states 'So place it on channel 513, DMX address 1, choose box 2 as interface..... In fact when you select channel 513, you cannot access the DMX base channel field as it's greyed out.

Yes, but click on the patch tab, and you can set it to 1. So it should be on Interface 2, light ch 513, DMX channel 1.

This does not present a problem, as I just ignored the DMX address step. It might make sense just to remove it, to avoid confusion.

As the tutorial describes, it's used to select the second box, in order to do post-process patching. It's also useful as check, as when you change your fixture which is placed at ch 513 on the Master box (interface 1), you will see it's also changing actually in the second box light channel 513, but DMX channel 1 (universe 2).

I must admit that the universe system of DMX sucks, but it's the only way to create more channels ;-)
