I have now successfully created two universes, following the instructions in the new tutorial. The step I screwed up was in creating the second interface. I must have tried to modify the one that was already connected, which is why the IP addresses got changed.

Having done the whole exercise once, it is quite straightforward but I think a little more detail in the tutorial/manual would be helpful. In particular, I would suggest that when discussing the creation of the second interface, explicit instructions - i.e. select the interfaces window and then select new interface from the edit menu.

One other minor point is that the tutorial states 'So place it on channel 513, DMX address 1, choose box 2 as interface..... In fact when you select channel 513, you cannot access the DMX base channel field as it's greyed out. This does not present a problem, as I just ignored the DMX address step. It might make sense just to remove it, to avoid confusion.
