I am currently in the middle of a production of Jesus Christ Superstar. The show comprises: 78 generic dimming channels 12 scrollers 9 Vari*Lite VL6C fixtures 8 Mac 600 fixtures hazers and smoke machines As often happens when Directors first see moving light fixtures, they suddenly realise the expanded possibilities and the plotting session time extends by several hours. Also, the time required to accurately program that number of fixtures is considerable in any event. For this show, we plotted the final cue about 20 minutes before the audience came in for the first performance!! Some time ago, the idea of supporting the Capture product (a moving light simulation software package similar to WYSIWYG but a lot cheaper) was discussed. Has there been any progress on this. I would very much like to have this available before going into my next show. It would have saved me so much time and stress for my current show. Where particular moving light chases were required, I could have left space for them and continued plotting the rest of the show and then taken the Lanbox and PowerBook home with me and plotted the chases using Capture, before returning to the theatre the following day. I could also have prepared some ideas for the Director beforehand, rather than use valuable theatre time to experiment. John Conry
