but I have one question straight away:
why doesn't the LCX have an LCD display, and why can't it be commanded by a VCR remote control, like the LCM.

In short; it was not designed that way. The LCX is a high performance DMX controller for up to 3072 channels, and we think a simple display and IR control is not appropriate. I wanted a small multiline LED display, but it became far too expensive.

BTW In a month or so we will have an Ethernet only version of the LCM, so if you want a display + IR + Ethernet only, the LanBox-LCE will be there in short time ;-)

and a comment:
you should invest more on the manuals. they're not that much clear (I can notice, trough posts that other users feel the same).
Maybe you should hire someone to right them. It's not an easy job to right well organized and clear manuals. I don't pretend you should have ADOBE style manuals, but.... on the ones you have now, sometimes you have to fiddle a bit too much trough them to understand some of the features.

I hope you mean the reference manuals can be much better, as the tutorial was written in order to have a much more clearer document. The reference manuals must be cleaned and improved, but we until next software release.

We have some kind of love/hate relation with manuals; If we let write manuals by a professional we can hardly improve the software anymore, as it would become too costly to rewrite the manuals each time. As we know that most people hardly read -any- manual, we prefer to extend and improve the software instead of spending the money on perfect manuals. Anyway we try to keep improving the manuals also ;-)
