I would be suprised if that was true on my pc. The motherboard is from asus, the serial connection is on that motherboard:

It specs only "serial port", not RS232 port, so you never know ;-)

I'll try that. Do I just need to change the speed in LCEdit+, or also in the windows 2000 settings ("apparaatbeheer" in dutch).

No, just change it to e.g. 19200 in global settings of LCedit, and it will re-connect at the lower speed. e.g:

14:35:07 Connected, 38400 Baud
14:35:07 LanBox-LCM, v2.00
14:35:30 Open P#1USA49WC102
14:35:34 Connected, 19200 Baud
14:35:34 LanBox-LCM, v2.00

Most of the time it's item 1, especially on Notebooks where some manufacturers put in a low cost pseudo RS232 port. Try with a good high speed USB<->RS232 adapter (like the Keyspan USA19-QW).

OK, or mayby a pci plug-in card with a serial connector on?

If you have a good RS232 card, sure.
