From time to time (say about 3 times per evening) the serial connection seems broken during some seconds. The green block on the bottom of the control window is orange, and above that there's a message "out of sync". If I issue a command then (go to next step for example), it says "command timeout". After a few seconds, the block turns green again, and it continues to work perfectly for some time (1/2 hour, one hour, sometimes longer...). This can be caused by several things, but anyhow it's a communication failure, which can happen: 1. If the serial port of your PC is not a "real" RS232 port, or 2. If the serial port can not handle 38400 baud properly (try lower speed), or 3. If Windows (PPP, or e.g. Palm) thinks your serial port can be used as modem, so it polls the port. Most of the time it's item 1, especially on Notebooks where some manufacturers put in a low cost pseudo RS232 port. Try with a good high speed USB<->RS232 adapter (like the Keyspan USA19-QW). I hope this helps,
