Subject[LCtalk] Layers

I have a LanBox LC and I've just recently made the move to LCedit 3.1. I primarily use my lights for a couple of bands that play in a wide variety of clubs. This means that my lights (mainly HES Trackspots) are in different physical configurations all the time. I also need to have the capability to run a light show on the fly as I occasionally run lights for bands with little or no lead time. The best way I have found to do this is to control the LanBox via Hypercard. This way I can have hundreds of scenes available to me on a single screen via a single mouse click. I base my show on 30 or so looks (pan/tilt configurations) and refer all of the other scenes that contain color, gobo etc to those 30 looks. This way I can have hundreds of scenes at my disposal while only having to adjust the 30 scenes designated as looks (HUGE time saver).

I would like to continue using Hypercard (mainly because I own a copy, I know Max is probably better) with the new software. The way I have set up my show so far is this. I have cuelist 1 set up with my "looks". Each step only contains pan/tilt info. I also have another cuelist that has scenes without pan/tilt info. I then set up Hypercard to play multiple scenes in a single button. For instance I have a solo scene for the guitar player where he has Trackspots 1,3, and 5 (pan/tilt only). In the Hypercard button I have it play that scene and another that has yellow and a gobo. The problem I am having is stray data in some of the engines interfering with playback and editing.

Can you combine scenes in the same layer that don't overlap? What happens if you then play another scene in the same layer that does overlap (I seem do be getting different results all the time)? I can't seem to find in the manual how to clear an engine or layer.

I have many smaller issues, but I'll address them later. I have to solve these issues so I can run a couple of upcoming shows. However, I'm open to taking a totally different tack if someone has any suggestions.
