SubjectRE: [LCtalk] Automation of chases

It would be good to have some in built chases, I do particularly like the random strobing button which saves an awful lot of programming. I haven't uploaded the new software yet a I'm haveign trouble getting the last show data off my box (I lost the data on my PC and haven't figured how to get it back off the LanBox keeping the cues etc).

Chases - I deal with professional programmers daily, and most of them wouldn't touch a preset chase with a barge pole. They claim most effect generators are just chase sequences done badly.... However I do sympathise and would love some starting posotions to edit and build on. My last show had 2 lanboxes run independently one controlloing 200 generics and one dealing with 20 movers.

The hardest effect has to be the circle - however this is just 2 chases running at the same time - a pan chase and tilt chase, If you use different layers for pan, tilt, gobo, colour etc you can do some cool stuff quite easily. I lie to have these layers above my "lazy Layers". That is layers where I clump together lights of the same type and use all there facilities in one layer for quick programming of static scenes.

When can we have the lanbox operating system for the pocket PC? Then we IPAQ users can focus and plot on a wireless network too!!
