In this case the no data step was a comment step, which does bring up that i would really like to add some text label to a step and save DMX data into it at the same time.

That's impossible due to the limited data size for a step (only 7 bytes). Still this request is on the request list, but as we need to store the text in the project, while the cues are in the box, it's quite a complex task to keep them synchronized.

Of course it is possible to add comment steps before/after the cue steps, but a 'true' label function would be nice. Along with a feature to get (the dimmer part of) the DMX data in the cuelist as dimmer percentages instead of hexidecimal values this would really be the things that would make me use the cuelist editor all the time instead of the 'layer edit'. (you wrote earlier that you would like to 'force' users to do so).

It's not hexadecimal, but normal decimal ;-) Anyway when using the list editor, you don't type the values into the table normally, but use the control window to set the DMX values. DMX values of intensities are show in % in the control window, while at the same time you see them in the cuelist editor as "real DMX values".
