Subject[LCtalk] Library editor
FromJohn Conry

One feature of lcedit I have always had problems with the the library editor. I clearly have a fundamental misunderstanding as to how this functions. I have created three new fixtures: MAC500, MAC600 and VL2202 - each one based on the original provided. What I have done is to add loads of presets for gobos, colour etc. These new fixtures have a different file name and different internal description.

Whatever I do I cannot get the library editor to see the two versions of the fixtures simultaneously. They either don't appear at all, or a message appears saying that the loaded fixture has been replaced. I've tried putting the files in the same directory as the original fixtures and a separate directory within the library. Nothing I have done so far works. If I use a separate directory and remove the Martin and Vari-Lite directories from the library, then everything is fine. As soon as I put the two directories back, the problem returns.

There must be some additional 'intelligence' in the library editor that I don't understand.

Help please!

Regards,
John
