One more try: can you name me one product ( the exact brand, type etc, and where to buy it )that will serve as link between an LCX output and a simple on / off footswitch to controll a smokemachine? I mean, do you ever use the LCX for such a purpose and what do you use ?

Sorry Michael, it's not that simple. The LCX i/o -is- low level hardware, so you must have some knowledge of electronics to use it. You must also know what you are going to switch, I mean low/high voltage and low/high current.

I use some devices of infusionsystems, and they have a reed relays switch: http://www.infusionsystems.com/products/switch-11.shtml It can switch 1A at 200V max, and can be plugged directly into the LCX connector. But, as Jon said, you can also use DMX relays, which are maybe easier to use.
