No, you can't make a backup of layers.

Sounds like another soldering session plus I dont know nothing about relays and what does TTL mean ? How about you offer a breakoutbox,( I would pay for it, of course ) that will provide normal switches ?

They already exists in many forms search e.g. for "i/o relay modules" in Google. You need 5V TTL (logic) compatible input.
