Some more info about the pc1600

It is also nice to use a fader to start a number of cue's. Depending on the way you need to use your pc1600... I use it for strobe effects (and other parts of the show), which is quite nice. If the fader is "0%", there is no strobe, "10%" is a little amount of strobe and so on.

Use a string in a fader,
program:
F0 00 20 40 01 50 00 2A 35 36 30 31 30 30 30 pr 23 F7
                     ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The first 7 bytes and the last byte are always used. The marked part is the string it is all about. It translates to *5601000(fader)#, 56 is the "engine go" command, 01 means you are using layer "A" (note: not midi channel 1!) 000(fader) is the number of cue's you can use. Use a fader minimum of 49 and a max of 57. 49 in HEX correlate to 31 in ASCII (the string), and 57 in HEX correlates to 39 in ASCII. So now you use a fader to start cue's 1 to 9 in layer "A" depending on the position of the fader.

More info on this string is in the LC+ reference manual.

I can advice you to use a power backup when using the pc1600 in "the real world". I bought one since an event that was outside and there were some power fluctuations when using PAR lights. This completely erased (!) my pc1600 (during show...) so i had to reprogram the peavey. This is not a nice thing. Really.

You program a fader for dimming lights the way jon dagget told, but it is enough to place the note on command (90 for midi channel 1) once only at the start of the string. You can off course use multiple note on commands to have a fader send channel values to different midi channels.

I use the peavey all the time and it is a really, really good piece of equipment.

Regards, Eric
