just wondering:

Is there a way to get DMX data in to my Mac? so I could control my Mac (using Max) from the lighting desk

Yes, two solutions:
1. If you have a LanBox-LCX, you can get the DMX-in data by sending a buffer request at regular intervals (say every 50mS). But buying a LCX just for DMX-in is a bit expensive ;-)

2. You can also use a LanBox-LC and install the grabber firmware, but it only works on LocalTalk or MIDI (it sends NoteOns).

I found some hardware, but only PC solutions.

And expensive too (for what you get, a LanBox-LC + DG firmware is cheaper ;-).
