Ok, so I want to run Cue 1 (first song of the set). I send a Patch 1 command, does that immediately trigger go?

Yes, well within 50mS + lamp delays ;-)

Let's say step 1 is a hold forever, and step 2 is for a par flash in sync with the beat (hold forever also). With step 3 being "go step 1". Once I send Program Change 1, I can then use Controller 90 to say "Go step 2" and then Controller 90 again to say "Go Step 3" which immediately sends it back to 1?

Yep.

Then step 4 is a strobe to accent a snare roll. In order to break the loop of 1-3 I can send Controller 86 with a value of 4 to run step 4...then back to Controller 90 to tell it to "Go next step" to 5??

Yes, you have full control where you want to go at any time. BTW In order to prevent a mess, it's wise to use a list number as cue. Whether this contain only one step or a 40 step chase, you can keep referring to cue xxx (you don't have to remember the step number).

Tip: Make one control cue which has only "holds for ever" and "go xxx.1 in engine A (or B, C). This makes your show very convenient to maintain. It also makes starting/stopping of two different cues (e.g. a sweep + color chase) at the same time easy.

Again, thanks a lot Jon. Program changes are much easier! I still don't understand the 14bit number thing...I think it's "fuzzy math" haha.

Midi is limited to 7 bits (0-127), so we use bankselect as multiplier for 128. So if bank is 1, 128 is added to your selected program change. In order to go to cue 200 it's
Bankselect = 1 (1x128=128)
PrgChange = 72 (128+72=200 ;-)

A strange note for you. I went to your site dagget.tv. Somehow it triggered a popup for porn?? I think it's just my Comcast IExplorer..it has some odysseus marketing popup engine in it...Just an odd choice?

Time for a better browser with anti-popup setting? :-))
