SubjectLCM Questions - New User

Greetings all,

I have recently purchased the LCM for use with my band. I am not a lighting expert so I may need a bit of help. I intend to create lighting programs for each song we play in the set. As we are already using a sequencer live for MIDI, I plan on sending MIDI commands to the LCM to trigger the lights.

Questions:

I plan on using 1 cue for each song. Some steps will just be pars coming on, or other boring things. I can set up steps that hold indefinitely? What is the easiest way to trigger each one? For chases of cuesteps set up in LCEdit, let's say a moving head panning left and right...can I just set up an infinite repeat of say 1.04 through 1.08, triggering 1.04 and the LCM automatically knowing to go through the other steps in that little pattern? Basically, when triggering midi, are all the properties set up in LCEDIT still acknowledged?

The only midi implementation help I could find was the LC+ Reference manual...I did not understand at all how Controller 20 with a value of 1 followed by Controller 52 with a value of 72 equals Cue 200???? Please explain this voodoo. Is there an easier way. I just want to go >> Run Cue 1 step 1, now run step 2, now run step 3, now run the 4-8 repeating loop, now run step 9...etc..

Any suggestions/comments/help will be greatly appreciated!!
