3. Control Panel
a) Given a fixture that is set correctly, how do I set all (or some) of the channels as active in the current layer?

Select the field and hit Return. This doesn't change the value, just activates it. Likewise, selecting and then hitting DELETE then RETURN will deactivate that channel. If you want to activate everything in the control panel, click in the area (not a specific field, but in between things) and do a Select All, then Return.

Ahhhh - This is so much easier.

This can be accomplished by using two layers and putting one in ADD mode. Then the bottom layer can be used as your "reference" and the top layer will change the values +/- relative to the reference layer.

Typically I have at least 6 reference points - Back curtain, stage TopLeft/TR/BL/BR and front of stage.

This is the method I am trying to use but it does get cumbersome.

c) Defaults for new cue list steps - It always seems to default to "show forever, crossfade for 5.1s"; Can this default be changed globally?

I agree on that. But I tend to do the "quick editing" (option click on it and just type in the change rather than using the Edit Step Action dialog).

Another new one on me - good stuff!

What works fairly well is to use a "real" trackball on your computer and program one of it's buttons (if not already) for Click Lock. Then you just put the mouse over LCedit's trackball, hit the click lock and you have full movement using the real trackball. Just regular click to release.

I might just go and get one of those...depends on the price/quality.

Thanks for the input and ideas and good luck with your shows!

Ta.

So far the rehearsals have gone well - One minor "elevated chicken" was forgetting to mark two scenes as "wait for keypress" and watching a four minute cue list whizz by in 8 seconds...
