From what I know, you're not allowed to use DMX to trigger any kind of pyrotechnics in a theatre show.

Wether it's any different through, for fireworks, I don't know.

You could probably legitimately use it to aim flamethrowers on DMX pan/tilt yokes... but for triggering, I don't think so. There are specific pyrotechnics triggering boxes that can be programmed for such a job.

About the stepper motor control, I know it's available, but I can't find the link I had to it anywhere. it's a little project board that supports 2(?) motors.
