Haven't tried it yet, but one suggestion already:

Can we add a preference to reverse the default, such that by default the Next/Pre button (or pageup/pagedown, or space, or any other "next step" button) acts as Next/Prev Cue, and then the modifiers change it to act as Next/Prev Step?

For theater people, I think the Cue functionality will be used so much more than the Step functionality that it's worth adding.
