hi- On Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at 05:39 PM, Fokko van Duin wrote: It's responding 63 (a question mark) as it can't do that command. Most likely you selected a layer which is not in your box activated? Check with LCedit (use LCedit just as a monitor on another Mac/PC) which layers are there, or erase the box so it's fresh with layer A-E. Our MAX tcp/ip example is very simple, but the LanBox-LCX is much more then just a tcp/ip i/o box, so it needs some setup.i don't have anything activated, as far as i know. and i don't really understand what i need to activate with layers. I just have the lanbox, i even cleared the memory recently just to make sure i have nothing on there. I don't really know what you mean though, that i need to setup to get it working with max. What exactly needs to be set up? [I thought i'd just be able to send info over to it and it would respond] I think the max tcp/ip example is trying to do a lot of extra things that i don't need to do.. I really just want as simple as possible- i.e. i want to be able to move one slider and have it change one value of say brightness on one dmx channel. I think i can extend that to multiple channels and eventually to do whatever i really need- but i just can't get this simple thing to work. I thought that by sliding around one of the sliders on the right side of the max demo program, i could adjust the 'dim' of the channel, but maybe i'm just being dumb about it? [is there just a -really- simple patch that controls a lanbox lcx in a really simple way, just to dim things up and down via a slider?] running out of ideas.. really appreciate any help. jeff lieberman
